1st World Mind Sport Games

1st World Mind Sport Games started 3 Oct. Besides Baduk there are other sports like Chess, Bridges, Draughts and Xiangqi. Of course for me the most interesting is baduk competition.

Wang Xi 9p looking at Mateusz Surma 3d game
In Individual Man Competition Poland (my country :)) send Mateusz Surma 3d and Krzysztof Giedrojć 4d. Before start of this tournament all my hope I insert into Mateusz Surma, because Krzysztof Giedrojć had his own years and in this kind of competition the most important is endurance. First day for this two was very good. Both of them beat their two opponents. Krzysztof Giedrojć beat 2k and 6d unfortunately it his only victories in this tournament :(. Mateusz Surma beat 4d, 5d, 5d and 1d. Meteusz lost only to 4d from Thailand and Wang Xi 9p from China. Unfortunately he don’t enter next phase of tournament.

Before Polish-Chinese clash
Woman Individual Competition are in progress, but even now I can said something :) The biggest upset mad Ola Lubos 2d by losing to 1k from Finland by 0.5 point. My friend and member of my club Ewa Mos 2d won her games in first day, but today she lost to Rui Naiwei 9p. Last women member of Polish team is Marika Dubiel 1k. In first round Marika lost to Cao Youyin 2p from China, but later he won her games with relative weaker players.
UPDATE: In 4th round Marika lost to Svetlana Shikshina 3p from Russia.
Today is also start of Open Competition. Polish team is formed by Leszek Soldan 5d and Pawel Celejewski 3d. Leszek won his games but Pawel lost important game against 4d. I hope next round in open would be better.
Beside polish result there is few interesting issue. First it looks like Korea had upper hand in individual man competition, but of course real fights will start tomorrow :) Another interesting issue are rules of komi. If black pass first the komi is 6.5 but if white pass first komi is 7.5. For me this rule is really artificial!!! In the end i want to discuss issue which were started by Alexandra Urban. She said that after first 20 minutes all visitors must leave playing room’s. She even write in her last post that this rule is only in baduk competitions, which reminds me some European Go Congress. I think this kind of rule can be only be formed by baduk player who thinks about themself like upper class :( The best example that it is wrong is answer to ranka bulletin by Portugal team:
Rui Carmona: It’s really impressive to see so many professional players!
Vasco Pimenta: We really expected to see professionals very formal and serious. But they just look like ordinary people!
Diogo Figueirinhas: They are Go gods but they are humans.

I hope this kind of situation is only accident and we will enjoy this historical moments :) BTW: i change te layout of the site please leave comments what you thing about it. There is also poll about it, on right side.

I like Chess, Bridges, Draughts and Xiangqi. they can help me testing my logical reasoning and math skills.
This was a actually fantastic post. In theory I’d like to write like this also – taking time and genuine effort to make a good post… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something carried out.dvd to ipad converter.
Chess is an excellent mind game. My dad and I have a long-standing debate on who is better .. the teacher or the student. ;)
It is most probably the first time (I think) that I see this cool internet site, and this website looks professional for now.
