Park Junghwan new titleholder
18 January in 2nd game of 4th Siptan Cup final Park Junghwan 3p beat Baek Hongsuk 6p by resignation and won his first major title with score 2-0. First game he won after big capturing race. In second game was more peaceful, but again Park Junghwan very skillful use weakness in his opponents groups.
Black 7 is new trend in mini chinese opening. Up to white 64 game goes very smoothly, but black 65 is little weird. It was very enjoyable to see Park Junghwan baduk in this game. It seems he can also play very calm and simply with nice style (shapes). He resemble me some games of Lee Changho in 2000-2002 years. White was behind in territory so he started ko in upper-left corner, but Park made another ko in bottom-left corner and forced opponent to resign after 209 moves.
Park Junghwan won first major title and probably KBA will promote him to 5p in next days. 2009 start very good for him. I hope we will heard about him in near future.
