Baduk theory is constantly changing
Game started with very new pattern in upper right corner. In the past connection of white 12 was recognized as bad. After some research of Korean pros (Cho Hanseung used it first time?) it become very popular. Cho Hyeyon on her blog discuss advantages and disadvantages of this move, so for more info you should check article: Opening 4 – Enclosure opening #3.
Lee Changho 9p, of course was aware of all this variations, so he decide to look for new one and play pincer. The variation look very dangerous and is one of type: don’t try it at home.
Kim Jiseok took the lead
When Kim Jiseok play black 39, the white situation was not so good. Fortunately Lee Changho was able to break out from this hard situation, but Kim Jiseok get nice profit on bottom side. The situation wasn’t dangerous anymore but black had a lead and white need to get some points. Some hope give black weak group in center.
Lee Changho attack it very strong and get huge profit in upper side but it wasn’t enough to win the game. After 280 moves Kim Jiseok won the game by one and half point.
