Choi Cheolhan won Maxim Cup
10 February, Choi Cheolhan 9p beat Park Yeonghun 9p by resignation. In first game Park Yeonghun overlook great tesuji in fight at middle game. This time Choi Cheolhan again complicated situation in fight and don’t give chance Park Yeonghun to show his great endgame skill.
From the start game was fulled with fighting spirit. Main fight start with white 52. White destroy black possibilities on left side, but Park Yeonghun get some strength and decide to use it by invading in bottom left corner. This was little too much after some sharp moves by Choi Cheolhan (74, 80).
Situation was really hard for black and Park Yeonghun decide to sacrifice group on bottom side and build hug moyo in center. Unfortunately Choi Cheolhan again show sharp play (118-122) and made life in black territory. Park Yeonghun resigned after 166 moves and give up on defending Maxim title. Choi Cheolhan won his first title in 2009. It’s great news for his fans, but of course the most important match for him will be played next month. He will face Lee Changho in best of 5 match in the most important international tournament Ing Cup.
