Wang Chenxing won second match

23 September, 1st stage of 8th Jeongganjang tournament continued. Against winner of first match – Wang Chenxing 2p, Japan team send Yoshida Mika 8p. Yoshida Mika play good even game but in the end Wang Chenxing won the game. Maybe Wang Chenxing is another rising star from China like Song Ronghui was last year?
Japanese joseki
Yoxhida Mika took black stones and play nice opening. She use very popular joseki in Japan by playing instantly two space jump without exchanging R2 for R4. Middle game ended with famous invasion in bottom left corner. Sequence to white 38 was forced. Next black play questionable move of black 39. Securing upper right corner looks bigger.
Deep strategy
Main purpose of black 39 was to defend moyo at upper side in sente. Wang Chenxing was alerted and decide to play kakari in upper right corner and reduce moyo on the top. Furthermore when black use follow up of black 39 by taking territory and base of white group in left corner, Wang surprisingly attack black group on the left side and in the same time stabilize her own group. If you add powerful tsuke on the right side than you’ll see that leaving upper left corner was really deep strategy.
Endgame skill
Game seems to be even but Wang Chenxing show nice endgame skill. Tesuji for remember is white 108. White defend bottom with sente. Few moves later Yoshida Mika was behind in territory and decided to give her opponent chance to create ko in bottom side. To win the game black couldn’t loss this ko but white was thick at whole board and black don’t have enough ko threat. After 226 moves Yoshida Mika resigned.
