Park Jieun defeat Song Ronghui
13 January Song Ronghui was playing in 7th game of 7th Jeeonggajang Cup. This time Korea team send captain: Park Jieun. Last year Park Jieun didn’t play at all, her teammates beat all opponents without her. This year different, China domination is huge, so Korea team were desperate to end Song Ronghui journey. Park Jieun last time lost to Song Ronghui in semifinal of Individual Women at WMSG 2008, so for sure she got huge motivation to win this game.
Park Jieun play very calm opening. First fight was started by Song Ronghui on upper side with black 19. IMO this fight end not so good for Song Ronghui, later Park Jieun even secure some territory on 4th line (shoulder hit at black 55). After invasion at san san in bottom right corner white get a lead. Few moves later Song Ronghui resigned. Park Jieun mission end with success.
The biggest question now is : will Korea have real chance to defend title? I think yes. Park Jieun is extremely strong and Lee Minjin show last year that she also can beat enormous number of opponents in a row. From other side Japan chances are marginal, the strongest members lost to Song Ronghui.
The biggest unknown is of course China team with many 1p and 2p young players, so everything is possible, they can loss all games, but also won with everyone. I looking forward to this tournament to see who will win this important female international tournament.

it’s already hard for Japan to win. Suzuki Aumi lost to Park Jieun. All left is Umezawa Yukari. I don’t think she has a chance to win this cup for Japan.
Oh well. I wonder if Korea can turn the board around.
