Japan is eliminated from Jeongganjang
2 February, Park Jieun 9p from Korea play against last member of Japan team – Suzuki Ayumi 5p – in 8th Jeongganjang Cup. In the game Park Jieun won by resignation and eliminated Japan team from the competition.
Park Jieun took black stones. The opening was pretty standard. The big fight started with black invasion on the right side. Black killed the bottom right corner, but white get nice thickness. Suzuki Ayumi use it nicelly with the moyo on upper side. Everything goes more or less even until Park Jieun don’t kill another white group on the left side. Several moves latter white resigned.
Park Jieun won second game after 159 moves and eliminated Japan team from the tournament. Next day, 3 January she play against Ye Gui 5p from China.
In this game Park Jieun again took black stones. White left more weakness than black in the opening. This give Ye Gui more territory in first half of the game, but in the second part black start to catch up. Point after point and eventually Park Jieun took a solid lead. After 317 moves Park Jieun won by three and half a point.
Park Jieun won 3 games and tomorrow will play final game against Li He 2p from China. This game will decide who will take title of 8th Jeongganjang.
