Lee Changho was black. Opening looks very optimistic for black. When middle game started Mok Jinseok a play very interesting invasion in upper right corner. The situation was unclear. Lee Changho unexpectedly leave the upper-right corner in danger of ko and play in upper left corner. Mok Jinseok 9p instantly start ko and won it by giving up bottom-left corner. The exchange looked little better for white, especially if you add sente, which white get after the exchange.

Black was behind but Lee Changho found great tesuji, turning game around. After 231 moves Lee Changho won the game by 0,5 a point.

In 3rd game, Lee Changho play against Cho Hanseung 9p. In opening Lee Changho surprised me, by giving his opponent ponnuki. Of course white get free move for leader breaker, but it’s still hard to said if this was good idea. When game enter endgame stage, Lee Changho found great yose tesuji and destroy black territory on the right side. After 232 moves Cho Hanseung resigned.

Next day, the final opponent for Lee Changho 9p was An Cheyeong 9p. An Cheyong is know from his famous nickname “Prince Half Moku”, because he won many games by 0,5 point.

After joseki in bottom-left corner approach of white 10 was considered by many Japanese professionals to be very bad for white, because white can only make two space jump. White looks over concentrated, but we could see many times in the past that Lee Changho changed Go theory, so maybe it’s not so bad for white to play this way.

In middle-game stage An Cheyong play very aggressive and Black 41 can be considered as overplay. After this move Lee Changho push and cut black stone. White gets many points and black shape is still not ideal, because white can later still attack black formation. An Cheyong resigned after 190 moves. Lee Changho won preliminary tournament to Electron-Land Cup and earn 10,000,000 Won. An Cheyong gets 3,000,000 Won for second place.
