Lee Sedol take a lead in Chunwon
14 January, 3rd game of final of 13th Chunwon between Lee Sedol 9p and Kang Dongyun 9p. Lee Sedol won this game by resignation after 172 moves and take a lead in final 2-1. He need only one more win in two next games to win this title.
Game was very interesting. Both player very interesting in opening. White 18 is recently pretty popular. Very similar situation happen in game between Lee Sedol and Lee Changho in Siptan tournament. Now Lee Sedol was using weapon which defeat him last time. Kang Dongyun must studied variation and decide to play more solid and give white influence. I looks more or less fair, but I think instead 23 playing at san san could be better. What do you think?
White 32 is another interesting move. Recently many pro play this move instantly, it looks that they think it is to white favor to do exchange in the corner. Last move I found very interesting is Black 41. This prepare trap for white, of course Lee Sedol read it very careful and big fight starts :) In the end Lee Sedol was leading by small margin and after 172 moves Kang Dongyun resign.
This second time when Kang Dongyun is playing in final of Chunwon. Last year he lost to Won Sungjin 3-1, so after his lost in Myeongin to Lee Sedol 3-1 it will be pity to him to lost again. I hope he will recover and won Chunwon as his first title in 2009.
