Unexpected endgame mistake

Both side play very thick. Only question to opening is about connection to black peep. In middle game Kang Dongyun had weak groups, because of this cut, but fortunately for him, Chen Yaoye didn’t get any decent profit from fight in center.

The game was even, maybe white was little ahead until Kang Dongyun don’t make few mistakes in endgame at bottom side. He must overlooked great sacrifice tactics and lost game by one and half point.

Kang Dongyun close combat skill

In second game both side play very fast opening thanks to avalanche joseki in upper right corner. After this big joseki black started to build moyo, but white invade instantly and start big fight in center. Chen Yaoye play some questionable moves and Kang Dongyun very nicely punished him showing his close combat skill. This time difference was bigger and Chen Yaoye without any hope resigned 195 moves.

Chen Yaoye won the title

In last game Chen Yaoye made very early mistake. Black position in middle game was very optimistic until Kang Dongyun play slow move and let his opponent to make easy life in center. Next white show nice moves and when he capture black stone at F3 the game was decided. After 186 moves Kang Dongyun resigned.

Summary

Kang Dongyun play 3 good game, but maybe pressure was too big and lost two game when in my opinion was leading. Chen Yaoye show with this victory that beating Gu Li 9p in Tianyuan wasn’t an accident. This victory is also first international title for Chen Yaoye.
